OVERVIEW
Baan Thawai village is home to generations of wood carvers, known for creating some of the best products in the country. Learn how the craftsmen produce their goods from start to finish, including wood products, gold leaf, silverware, and lacquer ware. The amount of time spent creating these items and the intricate hand carvings are sure to leave you amazed.
PROGRAM DETAILS
North Thailand is famous for the quality and uniqueness of its wood carving. At Baan Thawai, this art has been passed down from generation to generation. At present, a wide variety of wood carvings and other decorative items such as wood carving, wood-strips, gold leaf wood, antique wood, silverware, lacquer ware, hand-woven textile, basketry and earthenware, can be found. This half day tour shows you how Baan Thawai craftsmen produce their crafts by hand from the first stage to the finished product, and give you an idea of what there is to buy and take home as souvenirs from Chiang Mai.
