Heading in a northeastern direction, we will bring you up the Korat Plateau. Here you find the finest surviving samples of Khmer architectural achievements and grandeur in the Thai kingdom at Prasat Hin Phimai and Phnom Rung in Korat and Khao Phra Viharn in Sisaket. Also visit historical parks in Ubon Ratchathani and Nongkhai, where the prehistoric cave paintings, ancient relics and monuments attest to the splendors and majesty of the age-old civilization in the Isaan region.
Throughout your trip, you will also have opportunities to savor the distinct flavors of Isaan food noted for it strong flavors. Enjoy splendid drives along Mekong River to the various riverside provinces. At Loei, immerse in the bucolic charm of this province as you taste a locally produced wine, sail leisurely along the languid Mekong River and observe traditional techniques of handicrafts in villages. There is a final scenic drive to Phitsanulok before flying back to Bangkok.
