Discover the wonders of Thailand's ancient Lanna Kingdom as you travel to Thailand for this unique tour through the country's northernmost region that brings you to a wealth of culturally intriguing sites.
Your Thailand tour begins in Bangkok where you will explore historic Chinatown, cruise down the Chao Phraya River and visit the iconic Wat Arun. We will take you out of the city to a lively floating market and on a paddleboat journey through a network of canals, stopping to visit picturesque temples and museums.
The wonders of the north are waiting to be explored as you fly to Chiang Rai, where you'll see priceless Buddhist relics, historical monuments and hill tribes with their unique traditions. Your journey continues as we take you to the fabled Golden Triangle to view ancient ruins and scenic panoramas while you experience local culture. Take a boat trip downstream to a traditional weaving village and cross into Laos to visit more local hill tribes. At your hotel, enjoy splendid views over the Mekong River.
Your Asia travel adventure continues near the Laotian border when we bring you to a Chinese nationalist outpost in an area formerly off-limits to tourists. Relax in a local village before climbing to a border peak that offers breathtaking views over Laos.
Travelling through the mountains, you'll visit lush forests, traditional shops and art galleries en route to historic cities such as Lampang, a large trading centre during the 19th Century. We will also bring you to the world's first elephant hospital, a unique and memorable experience.
A drive down an old tree-lined highway brings you to the cultured city of Chiang Mai, where we will immerse you in ancient Lanna culture and history as you visit historic temples, hill tribes and architectural gems before you return to Bangkok.
Perched on a ridge top overlooking Laos and Myanmar, Anantara Resort & Spa Golden Triangle is as enchanting as the region in which it is located. Its 90 rooms and suites are furnished with Lanna silks, hilltribe cottons, local ceramics and teak furniture.
The area known as Northern Thailand is comprised of 17 provinces and is one of the country's five regional groups. The territory is marked by a series of mountain ranges which makes for a cool climated when compared to cities like Bangkok and other parts of Central Thailand.
Kanchanaburi is a town in western Thailand where, during World War II, the famed Bridge on the River Kwai was built by prisoners under Japanese control. Later the site inspired a classic novel and an Academy Award-winning film, although the area looks much different today. Many war memorials are located in this town including the JEATH War Museum and the Hellfire Pass Museum with its walking trail.
